Mahira Khan sympathizes with Afghan Refugees
Mahira Khan (Famous Pakistani actress) expressed her sympathy with the Afghan refugees being deported from Pakistan.
She has called on the govt of Pakistan and the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees to continue helping Afghan refugees. She wrote in her post that no one leaves their home behind by choice. She appealed the govt to continue to support those who need it.
Added that“Here in Pakistan, I’ve been proud of our tradition of hospitality towards those in search of safety, dignity and respect." She also said that for over 40 years we have provided safety to our Afghan brothers and sisters in need. There are people who are still in need of our kindness and compassion, who are at risk if they return.
It is pertinent to mention that since the Taliban govt came to power in August 2021, estimated about 600,000 Afghans left their country, while millions sought refuge in Pakistan since the start of the US war in Afghanistan. Since the govt of Pakistan issued an order to evacuate 1.7 million Afghans living illegally in the country, more than 100,000 people have returned to Afghanistan.
