Why gas crisis in Pakistan in winter and what is the solution

Opposition parties in Pakistan and energy experts have expressed concern
over the situation, and with the onset of cold weather,
the country's gas crisis has intensified.
Government ministers and advisers have been saying for months that imported LNG will not be allowed to create a gas crisis. Was predicted.

The Federal Minister for Energy attributed the gas crisis to the depletion
of natural gas reserves. "Every winter in Pakistan, there is a shortage of gas
because the natural gas reserves are declining by nine percent annually
 while the demand is increasing."
To find out what is the cause of the current gas crisis and how the problem can be
solved, Urdu News posed this question to energy experts and senior journalists
who have been reporting on the energy sector for decades.
Khaliq Kayani of the English daily Dawn cited new domestic connections by
governments as one of the reasons for the gas crisis.
Khaliq Kayani said that the reduction in the country's natural gas reserves
is correct. If this reduction is combined with the new annual demand,
this shortfall becomes 400 million cubic feet per day.
The issue was raised by Sui Southern Gas Company officials in the Senate
Standing Committee a few months ago and the court's restraining order
would result in a gas crisis for domestic consumers.
Tahir Abbas said that gas is imported to Pakistan in two ways. LNG is procured
through one long term and the other spot cargo.
According to him, Pakistan imports a total of 1200 million cubic meters of
LNG out of which 800 MMC buys long term from Qatar while 400 MMC
buys spot cargo.
